Madeira

We’ll meet at Madeira airport and head to the island's capital, Funchal. Spacious apartments will be waiting for us there, which will serve as our base for the week. Then, we’ll head out to a local restaurant taste Madeiran delicacies: Espada com banana, Bolo do Caco and, of course, Poncha.

Today we head out to explore the east of the island – the incredible São Lourenço peninsula. The views from the cape are truly out of this world, so it’s no surprise that this is where they filmed the latest installment of Star Wars. Then, we’ll head to a beach that’s quite unusual for a volcanic island, as its white sand was shipped all the way from Western Sahara!

We start discovering the mountainous part of the island, specifically by going canyoning. Afterwards, we’ll enjoy a delicious meal and hand-feed birdsthat are native only to Madeira, and we’ll wrap up the day with go-karting amidst volcanic cliffs.

A new day brings a new adventure as we head out on the main hike of our trip: trekking between two peaks to reach the highest summit, Pico Ruivo. In the evening, we’ll witness what might be the most beautiful sunset of your life.

Today, we’re heading out into the open ocean on a speedboat to spot whales and other marine life. Next up: the Madeira plateau with its waterfalls and majestic ancient forest, Fanal.

Today we’ll take on the Caldeirão Verde levada, where you’ll feel like you’re in the Amazon. Afterwards, we’ll visit a picturesque town that Winston Churchill captured in several of his paintings, and we’ll sample Madeira—the fortified wine that made the island famous around the world.

Finally, we head to the black volcanic beach of Seixal to swim in the lava pools and watch the sunset at the edge of the world.

Today we wrap up our adventure on the Island of Eternal Spring. We’ll say our goodbyes, share some hugs, and plan our next trips together, because it’s on adventures like these that you find the best company for future travels!
